to NukeMason: as an 'objective' observer (someone who only just delved into this subject thanks to the SARS-CoV-2) I might recommend you check out these first three hits I found regarding Phillips' suspension. They give a rounder, clearer insight into the situation than your posting does*

to ANYBODY WHO CAN HELP ME EDIT: I'd like to add those three citations to the statement I made in the page, right after the edit of Phillips' defence interview.

"The interview was mentioned in the analysis by former Tory party chair, Sayeeda Warsi (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/mar/09/labour-suspends-former-head-of-ehrc-over-alleged-islamophobia). Critics of the move include a former MP familiar with similar accusations, Stephanie Phillips--no relation, published in her current newspaper (please place 1 or 2 of these citations on the page for me:https://www.thejc.com/comment/columnists/what-will-our-leaders-do-about-trevor-phillips-1.498023; ) as well as an opinion piece at The New Arab (please place this link into the citation: https://english.alaraby.co.uk/english/comment/2020/3/16/pushing-trevor-phillips-out-of-labour-wont-fix-anything)."

  • but reading your posting along contributes to my understanding of all the muck that the UK is swimming in lately. I live across the pond and am thoroughly embarrassed by Donald Trump, scratching my head over the appeal of the U.S. export of Bannon all-rightism and the bizarre actions of Boris Johnson's Brexitacolypse that's going on in the UK lately. Thanks for pitching in to exemplify it.

Unrepresentative Quotation

[edit]

The quotation about Trevor Phillips views of Islam are unrepresentative. He has many progressive views of Muslims, and I doubt that he would want to offend most of them by having his wikipedia article devoted to a hateful and negative viewpoint of a this religion or the ethnic groups connected to this religion by association. This quote was clearly added to the article by someone with an Islamophobic grudge. [[User:NukeMason|NukeMason 12:27, 07 August 2006 (UTC)

"Progressive views" of Islam have brought Britain to where it is today, haven't they? Anyway, he had at least the guts to admit that he was wrong: http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/04/10/thought-europes-muslims-gradually-blend-britains-diverse-landscape-known-better/

No Longer Head of Racial Equality Commission?

[edit]

Has he stepped down as head of the Racial Equality Commission? According to the BBC he has, they refer to him as:

"The former head of the Commission for Racial Equality, Trevor Phillips," BBC News [1]

I came here to check but it isn't mentioned. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.5.7.168 (talk) 01:33, 13 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Friendship with Peter Mandelson

[edit]

What is the evidence for "Peter Mandleson was at university with him." I was at Imperial with Trevor from 1971 and have no recollection of Peter Mandelson who "read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at St Catherine's College, Oxford (1973-1976)" Bearfoot 23:06, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Forced to apologise for joke

[edit]

What was the joke about The Queen Mother for which he was forced to apologise on 18 June 2007? 195.92.40.49 16:33, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added content and a link to reference this 'joke'. Shame it seems so far to have been swept under the carpet, ironically the media are giving more time to the death of unashamedly non politically correct comic Bernard Manning. Richardewing 08:52, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Does the section on the joke really add anything to the article? It doesn't strike me as being a particularly major incident and I don't think it's notable enough for inclusion. Saluton (talk) 13:51, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Black power political groups?

[edit]

Ken Livingstone said that he dabbled with Black Power in his youth. Can anyone write a section about this? 80.43.52.42 19:02, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Official website not working

[edit]

His website referenced to at the end is not working on 23 March 2011 if anyone wants to think about should it be listed 86.45.62.58 (talk) 13:47, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I may be mistaken, but wasn't Trevor a regular contributor to this show? Since that would have merited a lot of public recognition isn't it worthy of mention? Unless I am wrong about it being him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.124.220.197 (talk) 07:20, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
