Issue with the lyrics

[edit]

In a live performance of the song by Nicolae Furdui-lancu, (found on YouTube) he sings "Nainte! Nainte cu sabia-n mână" instead of "... spre marea unire" which I assume is due to communist censorship, as the territories of the marea unire (meaning Great Union, aka Interwar Romania) were annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940. Likewise, he sings "Un cântec istoric bătrân ca Unirea". Is there an explanation for this deviation?

I think that's the original version sung in 1916 by the Romanian troops. It was later changed to make it more nationalistic, I believe. I only found a reliable source for the lyrics of the changed version. Super Ψ Dro 08:27, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
