Tecumseh?
[edit]In the section Background of the Treaty it's written that fear of the Iroquois joining Tecumseh's pan-Indian movement motivated the U.S. government to initiate the negotiations that resulted in the treaty. I have always associated Tecumseh's movement with the era just prior to the war of 1812, from around 1809 to 1812, 15 years after the Treaty of Canandaigua. My impression about this is confirmed by the Wikipedia page on Tecumseh. Can someone reconcile what's written here and what's written on the Tecumseh page?Britishisles (talk) 13:50, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- The "pan-Indian military alliance" links to the Northwest Indian War, which makes it clear that Tecumseh's alliance is not what's being referred to. I'll replace "Tecumseh's" with simply "the". Indyguy (talk) 16:03, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Joseph Smith
[edit]I _believe_ that the Joseph Smith mentioned as a witness in the article is Joseph Smith, Sr. the father of the prophet, but I have no sources that say this. The time and location are about right, as is the fact that Joseph Smith, Jr. was said to be well acquainted with native cultures. Does anyone have any information on this? Background
[edit]Hello Wikipedians! I plan to remove the current background section and replace it with a much more detailed section that I wrote. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ttaneva (talk • contribs) 22:46, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Contents of the Treaty
[edit]Hello Wikipedians!
I plan to update this section with more details on the contents and the legacy of the treaty. Additionally, is there any reason that "TIMOTHY PICKERING" is in all capitals? I would like to change it to "Timothy Pickering" Thank you, Ttaneva (talk) 23:11, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
