German Travis Beans

[edit]

This whole deletion mess started when German Travis Bean details were added to the page, and then repeatedly reverted. My thoughts are that the german models are a valid addition to the page, however a paragraph acknowledging their existance should be enough, as they are not really associated with the original Travis Bean at all. They don't even have aluminum necks from what I can see. My problem with the original addition is that a range of links and models were added which seemed to be more of an advertising ploy that anything else. I would think that if these new Travis Bean guitars were notable enough to be included then they should probably have their own page. hellboy (talk) 14:01, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The german guitars shouldn't be mentioned unless they get coverage in a reliable source. Their addition in the past seems to have been solely spam/promotional. Dialectric (talk) 09:56, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article Improvement

[edit]

Though this article is already somewhat better sourced than many of the small guitar manufacturer articles I've taken a look at, I can see some directions for improvement. More sources would improve the article, either used as inline references or listed in a sepereate references section. Ideally, there would be citations for all of the players, though this is asking a lot. It would also be good to get another image or two, showing either of the most common models (standard or artist) or the back of the guitar to illustrate the aluminum neck block. still room for improvement here. we need more about the actual guitars- why aluminium? what was the effect on tone? how did other manufacturers react? what about veleno, who (arguably) did this before kramer or bean? & once again, a massive list of people who may or may not be notable in their own right, & who may or may not have looked at an aluminium guitar for more than a few seconds, or whose connection with the guitars requires a line of exposition to justify yet another no-one-knows-who-they-are list in place of a proper article. lacking citations, it's just a load of 'me too', frankly.
