[edit]I have been informed that a change I made to this page was unhelpful. I apologize that it was quite correctly analyzed as formatted incorrectly for wikipedia, but I was trying to add a small change that I felt would be very helpful.
As a Transportation Planner at Caltrans, I found it kludgy that I had to click on a link of a specific state route in order to find a link to a list of specific state routes. I thought that a link to that list on the Transportation of California page would be useful to many, as it would be very useful to me, and a person not as determined as me to find this list might not find it at all.
Again, I apologize for not doing it correctly. I only wanted to add something that I hoped someone who knew what they were doing would be able to fix.

Drugged driving bigger problem in California than drunk driving
[edit]Is this so obvious as to be non-notable? Hcobb (talk) 01:21, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, but "{{Sofixit}}". If you notice, this article is currently more about transportation infrastructure than traffic law and safety. Besides the topics of drunk driving and driving under the influence, much of the content about the state's traffic laws and safety are located in the various traffic law articles. Cheers. - It is wrong: This article is not about infrastructure, it is about California.
- It is written: «A statewide survey shows there are more drugged drivers than drunken drivers on California roads during the weekend.»
- This kind of topic should at least be adressed with by a short sentence with link to drunk driving and driving under the influence, and traffic law articles if appropriate.
- The fact is those topics are linked: Transportation kills, and for this reason safety measures are taken.
- Despite the strides California is making toward reducing DUI safety risks, alcohol-impaired driving fatalities still comprised 29 percent of all California driving deaths in 2014. And, in 2013, 32% of drivers killed in crashes tested positive for either legal or illegal drugs, demonstrating that drug-impaired driving is also a serious safety issue.
- 3,680 motor vehicle deaths occurred in California during 2016.
- That makes Transportation in California with either alcohol or illegal drugs killed around 1059 people per year. Do not hide it!
- Impaired driving and alcohol-related crashes represent a major threat to the safety and well-being of the public. This is especially true among young people age 15 to 24, where impaired driving is the leading cause of death. Do not hide it!
Minor Notes
[edit]The article can be improved by providing the statistic of average commute time for Southern Californians in the 'current issues' section. Furthermore, a link can be made between how the 'silicon valley' tech boom is leading to a shortage of affrdable housing in the Bay Area and its surrounding parts, leading to a surge in commute times in that area. There is also little to no mention of the North County Transit District. It is worth mentioning that the NCTD picks up transportation in Northern San Diego County where the Metrolink discontinues.Ali raza kazmi (talk) 06:59, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
