Incorrect name

[edit]

The correct name for this historical and geographical region is Yedisan. Everything that is given in this article has nothing to do with Romanian "Transnistria". I propose to attach this article to the original and put redirect. Pridnestrovian editor (talk) 20:11, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:COMMONNAME, the article title is supposed to mirror the actual use in English-language reliable sources. You will have to show that your preferred version is the dominant term in English. --T*U (talk) 15:32, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Content fork

[edit]

This article looks to be a content fork of Transnistria/Transnistria autonomous territorial unit. It was directly forked from the Transnistria article in 2017, and has not really been edited since. None of the sources discuss the area as a region separate from its political administration. In the past there have been three approaches taken to these geographical content forks: redirecting to the disputed country (eg. Kosovo (region)), redirecting to the relevant geography article (eg. Taiwan (island)), and creating a disambiguation page (eg. Chinese civilization). Given there is no Geography article, and given the situation better matches Kosovo than China (and at any rate the autonomous unit article is short and poorly sourced), I would suggest the first option targeting Transnistria would be the best course of action. Chipmunkdavis: Are you aware of the existence of the article History of Transnistria? This seems to be a similar attempt to cover the complex history of the name Transnistria, which is highly contentious, being based on the Romanian name given to territory briefly controlled by the pro-Axis Romanian regime. The same map is used in both articles and actually sums up the complexity, for example, it shows the differences between the autonomous region of Moldova and the self-declared republic. It seems to me that both these articles need to be dealt with in the same way, whatever that is. LynwoodF (talk) 10:40, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't had a close look at the article, but if it does cover similar ground, relevant information should be merged into it. CMD (talk) 11:47, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Current Transnistria barely has parts of the geographical region. If we are going to merge this, it should be to History of Transnistria or Transnistria Governorate. But there should be a formal discussion first. Super Ψ Dro 15:04, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's not much to merge. Since the article's forking, it's had a grand total of one source added to it. Everything is already effectively 'merged' to Transnistria because it was just copied from that page. CMD (talk) 15:50, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
