transitioning should be a refence to the process of changing from one regime to another. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.99.16.91 (talkcontribs) 18:42, 21 April 2006

And why should it? Those other uses exist! Oh, and in the future, kindly sign your entries with -- ~~~~. -- AlexR 17:18, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit explanation

[edit]

I didn't realize I wasn't signed in, but the edit by 24.2.90.xxx was mine. I removed this from the article:

  • In journalism transitions are words, phrases, or whole paragraphs that hold a story together from subject to subject.

And acknowledged journalism in the writing bullet. I think that's being over generous, honestly, since "writing" should automatically include journalism. JordeeBec 18:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also reordered the list. The logic behind this sequence is arts-related usages, science-related usages, popular usages. I'm not entirely sure where to put the grappling usage, the "Global History" usage (which needs more editing), nor the gender transitioning or childbirth (which I added), although I placed those near the science portion of the list.
