Cyclic Systems

Thank you for your stub on this matter.

On the second paragraph, one reads:

In some cases, particularly for cyclic systems, the partition function may be written more simply[...]

I am familiar with cyclic coordinates in the context of Lagrangian mechanics, but I suspect that this case might refer to cyclic boundary conditions?
