"Neil Young considers Trans to be his best album"

Please provide a source. This is a surprising claim.

---Actually, I found one right here, sort of: http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/heartofgold/trans.htm -- "Trans was released in December 1982 & is one of Neil's two favourite albums." Still it's not quite true. I'll change this page to reflect that.

I note that says "Neil's two favourite albums (Everybody's Rockin' being the other)." which probably means it is a comment from just after the latter album was released. I am sure that his favourite is generally the one he has just released. In 1995 he said about Everybody's Rockin' "Did people really think I put that out thinking it was the greatest fuckin' thing I'd ever recorded? Obviously I'm aware it's not." - http://www.thrasherswheat.org/tfa/mojointerview1295pt2.htm

So I suspect that Trans isn't up there, either. I'll remove "Nonetheless, Trans is one of Neil Young's favorite albums of those he has made." -- Beardo 07:28, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Other tracks

[edit]

I have seen a copy of Trans with another track listed on the cover - though it wasn't on the album. Any one else know anything ? -- Beardo 06:01, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK - found that. -- Beardo 07:55, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Creation

[edit]

"Neil Young found that when using a vocoder when communicating to his autistic son he was able to elicit a better response. The emotional power of this experiment shows in the lyrics, particuarly in the track "Transformer Man" with the lines "So many things still yet to do / But we haven't made it yet.""

Is there a verifiable source for this - or is it just speculation ? His son has cerebral palsy, which I don't think is the same as autism, casting doubts on that whole section.

Fair use rationale for Image:NeilYoung-Trans.jpg

[edit]

Image:NeilYoung-Trans.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

DON'T DELETE MY VERIFIED REFERENCE TO THE VOCODER USED!!!

[edit]

Someone deleted my verifiable reference to the vocoder used on this album. STOP IT! All you have to do is look in a copy of the book 'How to Wreck a Nice Beach' by Dave Tompkins. DON'T BE AN ASS!! Thank you. AnalogVocoder1 (talk) 11:03, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deliberate Censorship...

[edit]

...of the proven fact that the vocoder used on this album was the Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201. The next time it happens (if it's an admin or another employee of Wiki) I demand that he or she should be suspended or fired! LEAVE IT ALONE!!! --VoiceEncoder (talk) 01:16, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How about the fact that Wikipedia should not be used for advertising? Your entire edit history (and you've abused multiple accounts to do so) has been nothing but the flogging of not only that model, but also that book. You are at WP:SPA, and the model is NOT important. MikeWazowski (talk) 01:23, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some people like me might want to know what vocoder (brand and mode) was used by Neil Young on this album. The only verified reference is the vocoder bible 'How to Wreck a Nice Beach' by Dave Tompkins . Although it is mentioned elsewhere on the web. --VoiceEncoder (talk) 08:41, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Alright Mike (and other admins, checkers, etc... reading this) if you want to get rid of an entry of mine how about instead of this one you remove the two in the 'Vocoder' article instead? There I have a sentence on Neil Young in "Music applications" under "Music history" "In 1982 Neil Young used a Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201 on six of the nine tracks on Trans". Also in "Television, film and game applications" under "Television" "The Cylons from Battlestar Galactica used an EMS Vocoder 2000 to create their voice-effects". I would much rather have what vocoders were used on the specific article pages of this one Trans (album) and Cylon (1978) than Vocoder. That will reduce it from four (or actually three since on Vocoder it's combined into one reference) to two. Thank you!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by VoiceEncoder (talkcontribs) 09:18, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Macintosh? Not Possible

[edit]

If the album was released in 1982, the Apple Macintosh was not released until January 1984 ( plenty of press sources for that). If the album cover was designed on an Apple Computer, it would have to have been the Apple II or Apple III or variants.TellingTheTruthIsARevolutionaryAct (talk) 18:01, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reference numbers 2 and 7 lead to dead links. O0drogue0o (talk) 15:04, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FYI The link that should take browsers to 'From the Vault' goes to rezoom, with a message in Chinese imploring you to buy something and get coupons. I'd fix it but I don't know the true link. I'd delete it, but someone always undoes my work. tharsaile (talk) 10:17, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
