The result of the move request was: moved to Trams in Kolkata. Jenks24 (talk) 15:30, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kolkata tramKolkata Tram – The title should be capitalized by renaming Kolkata tram into Kolkata Tram as I don't think the uncapitalised "tram" suits a Wikipedia article title with two words regarding a transport system unless the uncapitalised name is officially confirmed. For example, for the metro system of Kolkata, the article name is Kolkata Metro, not Kolkata metro which is just a redirect from a title with another method of capitalisation. For this reason, I believe moving this page into Kolkata Tram to capitalize it is necessary. Broman178 (talk) 14:02, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm going to Oppose this proposal until some kind of sourcing is provided that shows that this system should be described using a "proper name". In the absence of that, Kolkata tram strikes me as the correct article title (e.g. Helsinki tram, Utrecht sneltram, Zaragoza tram, Kharkiv tram, etc.).
(Sidenote: The modern tram systems' article naming schemes are currently a mess, and this "[City] tram" vs. "[City] Tram" issue is just one of several examples – these tram articles are in desperate need of some article naming "standardization", and I've already tried to do what I can on my end (and will likely have to do more in the future)...) --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:34, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hold up!! This system has existed since the 1800's? And it has been in continuous operation the whole time? – In that case, definitely oppose the current proposal, but support moving article to Trams in Kolkata! I and another editor (User:Bahnfrend) have been trying to set "Trams in [city]" as the "standardized" naming scheme for either, 1) long-operational tram systems (e.g. those in continuous operation since the early 1900s, or earlier), or 2) historical city tram systems that operated in the early 20th century until c.1950s–60s), for quite some time (with some success). So Trams in Kolkata is the best possible title here. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:00, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kalighat Tram Depot

[edit]

I don't think kalighat is running anymore so it should be changed. Vijay6767 (talk) 04:28, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

@সায়নকলেজপাড়া: Is it actually formally called the Kolkata Tram System? Is there any reliable evidence for this? See the RM above. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:44, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is actually officially called Kolkata Tram System. It is been never called as 'Trams in kolokata'. সায়নকলেজপাড়া (talk) 07:08, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Operational Status of the Tramway.

[edit]

The trams are still under operation !!! The Government's plan to shut down the remaining routes and start heritage service between Esplanade and Victoria Memorial has not yet materialised. So I have edited the site accordingly. Igobymanynames1 (talk) 17:09, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
