Death

[edit]

Can someone write more details about his death, and postwar treatment? Luka Jačov 22:24, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't he shot by the Communists? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 07:05, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Romanian article doesn't seem to say so. 37.47.233.145 (talk) 22:00, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Can someone find sources for this article? I could not find Popovici at Yad Vashem under Romania or Ukraine. There is a Ukrainian article with a photo[1] in the 2009-01-31 edition of Zerkalo Nedeli written in Russian (no English version yet), but it only mentions Popovici's memoir. I don't know how to obtain a properly licensed copy of the photo or where to find citations. Please help. Myron (talk) 18:06, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have just found and introduced in the article a link to Traian Popovici's detailed account. The version in Zerkalo Nedeli contains only the beginning. I found the full text in Romanian: [2] (the English version misses a few pages at the bigining, plus the translation is not perfect, I understand it went through German). That's a very good start, and can be used to expand the article significantly.
Please, look also at his article in Romanian Wikipedia. It is longer and better written. Also it has a photo. I will try to help, for starters I will introduce the info + biblio from the Romanian article (I don't promiss to do this in the week-end, but I'll try next week). The photo was uploaded by a user who has an account in English WP as well. You could just ask him to upload the photo in the English WP as well (or directly in the commons). Biruitorul once mentioned to me something about Romanian copyright law that can be of help to us, but I do not recall the exact details. You see, Popovici died in 1946, hence his photo is at least 62 years old. I don't know exactly, but chances are it's in the public domain.
I find more interesting references if I simply google his name, e.g. [3]. So, I guess this is a case of noone actually taking the pains to improve the article. We could create a small group of 3-5 editors, and try improve the article 5-fold. If we succeed, we can run it as a DYK. What do you think? Be aware, it has to be done within 5 days to qualify for DYK. Dc76\talk 00:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
