This page's discograpy lists a 1993 album titled "Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill", distinct from 1975's "Tríona". I'm not sure this 1993 album exists. I can't find evidence for it anywhere except this page. Maybe someone mistook a reissue of the 1975 album for a different album? --Allen (talk) 00:57, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your query. I checked on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Barnes & Noble and discogs. I would tend to agree with you but can't be sure, as I don't have the physical albums in my collection.
Here are Amazon.com entries for:
Triona Ni Dhomhnaill Triona vinyl record; this vinyl LP says simply Tríona on the cover, has a release date of 1975 but, sadly, no track listing. However, the track list (11 tracks, beginning with "When I Was a Fair Maid" and ending with "Here's to All True Lovers") is shown in the discogs entry for the 1984US re-release on Green Linnet, which adds (in the Note): "First released by Gael Linn Records - Dublin Ireland, 1975 - A Gael Linn Production" (albeit that it has a different cover from the Irish release of 1975).
Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill; this audio CD has the same cover as the vinyl LP above, has a release date of January 5, 1993 and 11 tracks, beginning with "When I Was a Fair Maid" and ending with "Here's to All True Lovers".
Tríona; this audio CD has a different cover from the two entries above but the same title on the cover, a release date of 2010 and the same track list as the 1993 CD.
It is still quite possible that there might be one or more errors in the product descriptions at Amazon, although the entry at discogs provides the missing track list for the 1975 entry at Amazon. All we can say is that the evidence above suggests that these three entries describe the same product, first released as a vinyl LP in 1975, re-released in the US as a vinyl LP and CD in 1984 with a new cover, then re-released on CD in 1993 with the same cover as the original LP, and then again on CD in 2010 with yet another cover.
Although I have indulged in WP:OR, I would propose that it's probably best to remove, from the article's Discography section, the entry for "Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill (1993)" on the basis that it has the same cover as the "Tríona (1975)" vinyl. As I mentioned before, there is a caveat for one or more possible error(s) in the Amazon product descriptions. However, I would also propose that we point the edit summary to the present section ("Removed entry for unknown Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill (1993) album; possibly CD release of Tríona (1975)? See talk page"), hoping that if there ever was a different album with the title Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill in 1993, then an editor who physically owns it will add it to the list later.
I hope this helped, even if my efforts were not totally conclusive.
Thank you for your thorough work, Patrick! I made the edit as you suggested. I wouldn't worry about WP:OR; I don't think that applies when removing unsourced material. --Allen (talk) 21:02, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
