Toyota Qualis
[edit]Is this the same as Qualis?--Rayc 00:10, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Wish platform for 5th gen Innova
[edit]Are writer sure about Wish platform usage for Innova? Wish used FF (Front Wheel Drive, Front Engine) monocoque, instead of FR (Front Engine, Rear Wheel Drive) AND Ladder Frame platform like Innova did. This article should have clear citation and shouldn't be created upon subjective opinions and/ or urban myths. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.96.158.78 (talk) 06:52, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Also, the Toyota Wish was a small MPV with chassis code ZNE10G while the Kijang was a utility small cargo vehicle with chassis code KJ80. Completely different. Unless a good reason and/or reference can be given for this unusual claim, we will have to remove the claim that the 2003 Wish and 2004 Kijang are based on the same platform. Stepho (talk) 08:45, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
that claim is incorrect, the Innova uses IMV Platform, while the Wish shares the same platform as the Corolla of the same generation (MC Platform) Pravito (talk) 05:23, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- 11 years on and I stand vindicated. Time to do my victory dance. 😁😁😁 Stepho talk 05:38, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
bad merge
[edit]For a wholet year a merge has been requested on the Toyota Revo page. Two months ago an anonymous IP did the merge by simply copying the entire Revo page onto the end of the Kijang page and left the Revo article intact. Unfortunately I didn't notice this change and neither did anyone else. While I support the idea of merging the two pages, it should not be just copying the entire Revo article here. The details of both should have been interleaved so that the generations lined up (the first gen Revo matches the third gen Kijang). I will delete the Revo part from this article and start the merge request again. Stepho talk 07:25, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Zoological pedantry
[edit]I'm pretty sure the Indonesian (and Malay) word kijang refers to muntjac specifically, not deer in general:
- The Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, the official dictionary of the Indonesian language, defines it with:
- Mamalia berkuku genap, ruminansia, berukuran lebih kecil daripada rusa, serta berangga atau bertanduk pendek (Muntiacus spp.)
- Even-toed hoofed mammal, ruminant, smaller in size than deer, with short antlers or horns (Muntiacus spp.)
- The Indonesian Wikipedia article id:kijang starts:
- Kijang atau muncak adalah kerabat rusa yang tergabung dalam genus Muntiacus.
- The kijang or muncak is a relative of deer belonging to the genus Muntiacus.
- The English Wiktionary article wikt:kijang has simply:
- muntjac (Muntiacus)
I made a change to reflect this, but user Pravito reverted it. Pravito, do you have a different view?
Best, Rotcaeroib (talk) 17:18, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
In Indonesia, the term kijang may also be used informally to refer deers as well Pravito (talk) 02:46, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- It looks to me (with my expect knowledge of 5 Indonesian words) that Kijang really refers to the muntjac and that 'deer' is merely a convenient English word for the benefit of foreigners. I'm happy if we use muntjac instead of deer - although we could say it was named after the "muntjac (a local relative of the deer)". Stepho talk 05:42, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
Confusing grammar
