Being a proud owner of 1991 Mark II GX81 with 1G-GE engine, I'll try to make the "G-family" page as accurate as possible. There are multiple sources of information, one of the best is http://toyota-club.net/files/03-03-10/09-02-g-engines.htm , plus much info is spread among auto catalogs.

Start year

[edit]

The start year is listed as 1979. Does anybody have a reference for this? http://mywikimotors.com/toyota-1g/ says 1979 in the Crown but https://www.toyota-global.com/company/history_of_toyota/75years/vehicle_lineage/car/id60005165A/index.html says the Crown swapped from 2000 cc M-EU/M-U to the 2000 cc 1G-EU in August 1983. My Toyota ID book (late 1983, does not cover Japan or N.America) makes no mention of the 1G engine, so it is probably a Japan only thing.  Stepho  talk  00:53, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
