1. Expand

[edit]

This article needs to be expanded. Currently it's just a list of entry tournaments in LD (see below) and past winners. We should expand to mroe encyclopedic content, and, if we do have lists, make them for all debate events (once again, see below).

2. Move

[edit]

The title of this page is Tournament of Champions (LD); however, the Kentucky TOC also includes Cx and PFD. I propose a move to Tournament of Champions (debate), and then, per above, expand the article to all debate events. // The True Sora 14:35, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Strong support as nominator. // The True Sora 14:35, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed, the tournament should be expanded to include all of events. As creator, I think an expansion should be undertook.

Improvement

[edit]

I am currently adding content in an effort to improve this article. Considering the importance of this tournament, I do not think it is unreasonable to attempt to make this a featured article eventually. In addition to the general improvement tasks (i.e. correct grammar, cite sources, get peer review, etc.), I have several more specific tasks.

  • Add original photos to the article
    • Picture of TOC Trophy
    • J.W. Patterson perhaps
  • Increase analysis of the individuals awards; for instance, explain the Julia Burke award and the like in a more encyclopedic way

*Add a Coaches' Hall of Fame Section - this is a big deal for the TOC. I don't have the complete list or the selection criteria. Can someone do some research?

  • Add a TOC Tradition section - Breakfast of Champions, Kentucky Derby Trophies, etc.
  • Add a criticism section - can someone do some research and find decent sources considering the problems of the TOC obsession (I think a book called Gifted Tongues considers this issue).
