Branding

[edit]

I get The CW and The CW4Kids over-the-air from Detroit, Michigan's WKBD-TV, and on this morning (August 14), it has both logos (Toonzai, and The CW4Kids), and uses both brandings.... is this simply a transition period, or is this more of a re-branding at the last minute? RingtailedFoxTalkContribs 15:19, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article TOONZAI is suppose to reflect The CW4Kids branding so thats why they are using two logos but I think you are right, it might be a transition period right now for The CW4kids to be Toonzai. Bsuen --Bernard Suen 21:26, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?

[edit]

I'm proposing a merger of the CW4Kids and this article into one article called Toonzai on The CW4Kids. Before the new branding came into effect I assumed that the CW4Kids branding was gone, however it remains quite front and center, with the CW4Kids logo remaining equal size to that of the Toonzai logo during network advertising on-air, the block being called by the "Toonzai on The CW4Kids" name on-air, and on the front page of the 4Kids site it's also known by that name. Starting the discussion... Nate (chatter) 06:22, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The way The CW4Kids was before combining branding with Toonzai can be noted in the article, thus not needing its own. Also, on a different note for the article, it needs to be protected or have a warning put in it for the changing of the schedule to be always the latest Saturday. The schedule should only have its date changed when a show is added, removed, or changed around in the scheduling. Readopedia (talk) 16:23, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, i'm watching Sonic X and Dragon Ball Z Kai right now (via WKBD-TV Detroit), and the bumpers are stating "Toonzai on The CW4Kids", with both logos (Toonzai's above The CW4Kids' logo, both in the bumpers, and in the bottom-right corner). I think it's safe to assume The CW has its kids' programming division named The CW4Kids, with the saturday morning block as Toonzai...sort of like how Nickelodeon has Nick at Nite. at the very least, we should redirect Toonzai on The CW4Kids to The CW4Kids... or possibly the other way around. RingtailedFoxTalkContribs 13:39, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not such a good idea, since the CW4Kids strongly makes these 2 blocks distinct from each other. They are simply still using the "old" banner, because they want people to get used to it, and because it "is" the CW channel's version for kids. 68.6.148.3 (talk) 05:17, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
RingtailedFox, there is no distinction between a kids' programming division and a Saturday morning block. The block was just renamed "Toonzai on The CW4Kids" because of the addition of Dragon Ball Z Kai. The use of the word "on" in the name of "Toonzai on The CW4Kids" implies that there is still a standalone "The CW4Kids", but this is not the case. Also, 4Kids Entertainment operates two websites, both of which incorporate the logo. One is "Toonzai on The CW4Kids" (http://www.4kids.tv/), which is what The CW runs, and the other is "Toonzai on 4Kids TV" (http://www.4kidstv.com/), which is for viewing episodes. The name "4Kids TV" used to be a block run on Fox Network, but is now on that site only (and it was on the site before the Toonzai branding came in August). What I think is best now is to make "Toonzai on The CW4Kids" just a section of the "The CW4Kids", instead of having two articles covering the same programming block for two periods of time. The Toonzai branding coming into play on the "Toonzai on 4Kids TV" site can be noted on the 4Kids TV article. Readopedia (talk) 02:32, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Readopedia, the Toonzai article should be merged into a section of The CW4Kids article. Powergate92Talk 05:43, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree, although, the CW4Kids article should be merged into the Toonzai article, considering Toonzai as just a name change, a rebrand of sorts. NoeG2012 (talk) 02:33, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the CW for Kids really emphasises the idea that the blocks are separate, so we really SHOUDN'T merge the pages. Also, some people who want to look up Toonzai would be pretty confused to see it merged with the page of a former cartoon block that it isn't even a part of. 68.6.148.3 (talk) 19:49, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Now on" content

[edit]

I've removed content from this article that tells us where various programs are "now" airing, such as the content added in these edits: [1][2]. "Now" and "currently" are ephemeral words. What is true "now" is not necessarily true tomorrow, so such information is of limited use. Secondly, this is an article on Toonzai, not those other networks. Thirdly, and most importantly, Wikipedia is not TV guide; Updating users on the location of their favorite shows should not be done in this article.
