Notability
[edit]Is she really deserving of a wikipedia page?
- Depends on how you define notable. Her list of articles and her TV appearances might make her notable enough. Though I really don't think we need her ENTIRE list of appearances and press submissions listed in the article. Blade 18:01, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Major Edits
[edit]This page had gotten way out of control, listing every article and performance she'd been a part of. It read like a resume and was out of proportion for her notability. I edited way down. Blade 19:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Myself being the sole editor of the wikki and a personal friend of Tonya Kay i do admit some bias. Though most the information i can gleam as of the moment is from her bio, or say resume, I am trying to fit it within the guidelines of no bias. So give me time. She did personally write out the early years section herself. I posted it up. As to notability, doesn't practically everyone, that doesn't deserve one have one.
If anyone has any questions or comments please speak up? Also this is my first wikki article some help would be greatly appreciated.
- Well, welcome to Wikipedia! I suggest you look at the Wikipedia:Tutorial, especially Wikipedia:Tutorial (Keep in mind) and Wikipedia:Notability (people). The longer the article, the greater the implied notability. Remember that articles need a neutral tone and have verifiable facts. Statements like "Tonya is perfectly insane" are not neutral, nor is it verifiable (unless a psychologist has written an article about the perfection of her insanity *grin*). Also, Tonya's account of her childhood may not be relevant, given her notability. Remember, the audience you are shooting for is the general reader. Additionally, unless it's been published in a secondary source, constitutes original research, which is against Wikipedia policy. Hope this helps! Blade 01:27, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and remember to sign your comments on the Talk page. You can do that by typing four tildes in a row: ~~~~ Blade 01:28, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Is this a joke?
[edit]This reads like it was written by someone who doesn't speak english and just went off their meds or something, what the heck happened here?
--- Tonya Kay is a magickal Child ---- what?
from Michigan farmlands since age 4 and playing Cosmic Muse even longer----
what does this even mean?
---Tonya Kay is a raw food athlete.---- Again, I'm simply perplexed.
---Her, performances include 3 years in Stomp She believes, that she is living proof of what a child raised by love grows up to be.---- Apart from punctuation and such this makes the most sense so far.
In 2006 Tonya Kay quickly became a household name as well as a cult icon with an appearance as the fruit-eating superhero, Creature, on SciFi's Creature----
A household name? Ehm, no. A cult figure? Possibly, but how can one be both a household name and a cult figure?
she is an performing dancer, raw vegan, and compulsive gypsy.----
Ehm, compulsive gypsy? Is that like being a pathological jew or clinically asian?
---and current commercial appearance as the 14 inch high gremlin, in the Progressive Auto Insurance Commercial. Tonya Kay has also made a presence known by being a Dominatrix dancer for the mega hit band Panic At The Disco's on their most recent Continental Tour.---- Well, that's at least comprehensible
- This was a copy and paste from her websites, but since this is a Wiki, you can easily fix the grammar issues and anything else you can think of. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 06:46, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Bad editor, no gluten-free seaweed biscuit
[edit]Fixed a mix-up on my part. The sentence reading "She was voted out of the contest partially because she did not reveal that she was a professional entertainer at the time, instead of an amateur talent that the producers were looking for." has been replaced with a more correct one. The contestant eliminated from Season 1 Who Wants to be a Superhero?for not being an amateur entertainer was Mary Votava (Monkey Woman). -- Yamara 21:44, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Hello, my name is Tonya Kay and my Wiki Identity is Mistress of Darkness. As you can see, I've stepped in to try to assist making this page something formatted to Wiki's standards as well as something I feel comfortable displayed about myself. Thank you for all your help thus far.
I have made edits today which I hope no one will undo. Please explain to me any problems and I will gladly take care of them myself.
Also, I use my name "Tonya Kay" professionally and no one knows it outside of those in my farmtown/hometown. I hope you can understand why I would want to keep my family's name private. I do the best I can do in my daily life and have for about 11 years now, I would really appreciate not having it listed on Wiki simply for my family's safety. You'd be surprised to know I actually have had dangerous stalkers and I can take care of myself, but where my family is concerned, I could never forgive myself. Please help me keep my name as it is and has been for 11 years, professionally and personally, "Tonya Kay".
Thank you!
- Sorry about including the birth name, I have removed it from the article and I placed a note not to include it. WP:BLP is our policy on how we deal with articles on people who are living or are recently deceased. Thanks for giving us a photograph. I hope you don't mind, but I am having a few other people looking at the article to check on formatting and other issues. Thank you again. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey, fellow Wiki Editor!
[edit]Hi, Z. Thanks for helping.
I really like the header pushed up too. But then it is uneditable and the text is not matching what I had intended. Oh, and thank you so much for removing my birth name. Thank you for understanding.
There must be a better way to communicate with you about specific changes, but this discussion board is the only way I can see to do it.
- This might be shocking to you, but I noticed you talked to a "Zachary Harden" via the Wikipedia. This is the shocker; I am him. So, pretty much, my personal email is open, OTRS is open and I am not sure what else I can suggest. This discussion board is perfect for editing the article, but there are some privacy issues still, email is the best to go. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 21:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by text becoming uneditable. The entire article can be edited, either each section with the '[edit]' link, or the entire article with the edit tab at the top of the article. (The text above the first section header is only editable by editing the article as a whole - maybe that's what you mean.) Generally speaking, this is the best place for discussion on the article - articles are community effort, so this is the best place for the conversation on that. :) Oh, and remember to sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~). That adds a signature to your post. Blade 02:14, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- She meant that she couldn't fix the heading (tier one). That is pretty much as a title. But I am sure that, if she wants to know how the format works, we can teach her. Plus, not only you can do the four tildes (to the left of the 1 key, you have to press shift in order to type the tilde), but you can use the signature button in a tool bar when you are editing a page, such as this. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 02:36, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for helping, Blade! And Z, I am shocked indeed. How covert of you.
Yes, I will use your suggestions to tilde my signature. Yes, I will use this discussion board to discuss edits and ask questions. Thanks for all the insight!
Okay ... only two more things I hope you can help me with. One is indeed how to edit the header? I don't see an edit button there. And also, in the References section, there seems to be a leftover "annotation link" however the annotation was deleted. How can I remove this leftover link?
Thank you guys! User:Mistressofdarkness 02:49, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Mistress of Darkness
- If you are wondering how the title can be fixed, that would have to be done by a page move. I can perform that for you, we just need the new title. But as for normal editing, there is a bunch of tabs at the top of the article. They include talk, move, edit, watch (for admins, there is more things that appear). You can press that to edit. Or, what you can do is go to the section headings (they will have a edit button towards the far right). Press that and you can edit the section only and leave the rest of the article alone. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:41, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you are instructing me to do in order to edit the title box. Please be specific: I am a beginner here.
Also, I didn't catch how to remove that footnote in the References section...
- I'll remove it for you. Anyways, the way references are usually done in Wikipedia is by using the following format: <ref>Your source</ref>. At the bottom of the article, if an editor adds either </references> or {{reflist}}, all of the references will be listed. In order to remove a reference, what you need to do is edit the section where it is at. I will give you a template or two to look at and see what you can do. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for offering to fix the title box for me, Zscout! Let's use this text for the opening box:
Tonya Kay is an actress, professional dancer and television personality best known for her appearances in the Stomp national tour, Panic At The Disco's national tour and SCIFI's Who Wants To Be A Superhero.
- We got the SCIFI show mentioned in the sentence, that you are a dancer. We also mentioned about the other performances you did in a later section. The lead section, lets say, is a summary of the article. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 18:14, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Zcout, please don't dismiss me. I'm happy to do the work, I just need a little help:-) Since my personal career if far more encompassing than "professional dance" and one television appearance on the SCIFI chanel, I would prefer to represent the article more accurately in the lead section. It would probably be most accurate in the long run (so I don't have to ask you for lead editing help after this) to leave out any specific perforamnce references and simply use my general profession as the lead summary:
Tonya Kay is an actress, profesisonal dancer and television personality.
Can you help me with this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mistressofdarkness (talk • contribs) 19:50, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
Images of secondary and third-party sources
[edit]The target of these links provide images of secondary and third-party sources that need to be attributed to the article as inline references. A list of unattributed links attached to the article does nothing to establish notability for inclusion on Wikipedia. Notability needs to be established through reliable sources. As such, I believe these images may assist in that endeavor. Please do not delete this list until all attributions are made. Thank you. Cindamuse (talk) 13:01, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Birthdate witholding Options?
[edit]If it is possible, or there is a compromise of sorts. Is there a way to keep Tonya's birthdate out of the article? Also since, I am not a professional wiki maker, Mistress of Darkness aka Tonya has stated there is portions that she cannot edit. Which I personally do not understand, since I believed anyone with a user account has the same access? Is there different privileges for different sets of editors? I am able to edit anything on Wikipedia yet she seems to have limited access, If anyone has any input. I would like to clarify this issue. - Hi Ricky. Wikipedia, as an encyclopedia, often presents information that some individuals and subjects of articles would prefer to keep hidden. In this case, Wikipedia's policies and guidelines pertaining to biographies of living persons state that where there are complaints or opposition from a subject regarding the inclusion of a date of birth, we are instructed to compromise, by only posting the year of birth. The participation of User:Mistressofdarkness is most certainly welcome in any editing capacity, outside of access to administrative tools. That said, previous edits to this article have introduced content that is determined unencyclopedic in nature and were contrary to Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Essentially, it appears that the subject is using the Tonya Kay article as a webhost and platform to present, promote, and manage her image in the public. This is contrary to the purposes of Wikipedia. The article is currently under review by the GOCE. Specific issues being addressed include point of view, tone, promotional content, structure, and style. The GOCE edits should be complete in a couple of days. Please don't hesitate to ask, if you have any other questions. Cind.amuse 06:52, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I can understand and agreed. The premise behind the edit a few days ago by Tonya & myself was the discussion, that her involvement in present & future projects changes drastically. The edit would have been easier to keep pace with, present & future projects. Instead of continually updating it, in consecutive weekly fashion, or such. If there is a better means to present the material in the wikki, to be neutral, I am sure it will be taken. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ricky1146 (talk • contribs) 14:32, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
