Billy Connolloy…
[edit]Tony Roper was a delivery driver for Bilsland Brothers’ Bakery in Anderston, Glasgow, when Billy Connolly started working there as a van-boy; although they don’t seem to have worked together as a delivery team, it has been said in interviews that Connolloy (not yet a comedian) was very impressed by Roper’s ability with comic one-liners. Don’t have dates or any links, but someone may wish to follow this up. Jock123 (talk) 11:45, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
BAFTA?
[edit]"He wrote the comedy-drama The Steamie in 1988, for which he won a BAFTA." - there is no record of this on the BAFTA site or in the awards database. The only reference to Roper's win is a passing mention in a local newspaper report. This needs to be better-sourced --Taras (talk) 13:07, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
