Tonal Memory (Pitch Memory) vs. Absolute Pitch

What is the common agreement among musicians? Is tonal memory another form of absolute pitch?

Not quite. Absolute pitch is the ability to identify any note or chord without a reference pitch. Tonal memory is just memorizing a pitch. Of course, you could make an extension of this and have a pseudo-absolute pitch, by using a memorized tone as a reference pitch. --Xparasite9 (talk) 02:47, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
