[edit]Ahead of Jackie Robinson? El Beisbol: Travels Through the Pan-American Pastime by John Krich quotes (p. 157 of the Prentice-Hall paperback edition) longtime major league scout Howie Haak as saying: "Of course, there were plenty of Cubans in the big leagues in those days. They had to sign this phony form sayin' they were of white ancestry. But hell, Tommy de la Cruz was as black as they came." I find this unlikely but possible. I am, however, in no position to judge and it would be nice if someone with more facts and detail could fill them in. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.217.149.46 (talk) 05:04, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
