Lede; most important content

Mu deleted material, asserting it was not part of the article's most important content. Which is in fact a touchstone for content inclusion in lede. But it is I would assert part of the article's most important content. Which we can glean from the increase in pageviews following the most recent of the series of incidents that this last incident was a part of. The increase in pageviews from 300 views to (over 100 fold) 37,000 views is I would venture to say quite a remarkably clear indication that importance (as measured not by the opinion of me or of Mu or of any individual editor - but rather of the public (and press coverage is in line with that, and another measure) - is extremely high for this. Readers are coming to the page to know about this. Even more, I would think, than what day of the month he was born, or what round he was drafted in.

Secondarily - and I think Mu knows this and would agree to it with some thought - We don't as a matter of course in a baseball bio lede write " Pham bats and throws right-handed, stands 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall and weighs 210 pounds (95 kg)." If we reflect such information at all - and often we don't - we reflect it in the text below the lede, especially when it is unremarkable information (it would be different if his statistics were unusual, which they are not).

In addition, we don't as a matter of course in a baseball bio indicate where he was born, and the other changes that were reverted are of similar type. Forcing their inclusion - especially for an experienced editor like Mu to do them - is surprising to me.
