Births Mariages Deaths: yes, a Thomas Wilkinson Boyle - but birth registered Jan-March 1889, and in Haslingden, Lancashire. IGI (no source): Thomas Wilkinson Boyle born 3 Feb 1889 Saint John The Evangelist, Accrington.
Meanwhile Thomas William Boyle's birth certificate says 29 January 1886, son of Patrick, a coal miner, and Ellen Boyle, both described, in the unlovely way of the day, as illiterate.
Tommy Byle's birth certificate not only tells us that he was born in Hoyland, Barnsley, but is even more specific: Platts Common, Hoyland, Barnsley. A 1907-08 football handbook confirms his first club was Hoyland Star. His death certificate has Thomas William on it, not Thomas Wilkinson. He was certified insane (again, a word we wouldn't use now) by the time he died. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.45.193.152 (talk) 21:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
