Tomaltach's father
[edit]The Annals of the Four Masters state that Conchobhar, not Diarmait, is Tomaltach's father:
- M1206.6: Tomaltach, mac Concobhair, mic Diarmata mic Taidhg tighearna Mhaighe Luircc & Airtigh, & na h-Aicidhechta en-branan Cloinne Maol Ruanaidh do écc.
And the Annals of Lough Key:
- LC1207.1: Tomaltach na Cairrge, mac Conchobhair, mic Diarmada, mic Taidhg h-I Maoil Ruanaidh, rí muighe Luirg, mortuus est.
In these genealogies, Diarmait is his grandfather, and Tadhg Mór his grandfather.
Are there other sources which say differently? Is it that Ó Maelruanaidh was still the surname in his generation?
