Fair use rationale for Image:VanBuerenTomJerry.png

[edit]

Image:VanBuerenTomJerry.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The film's out of copyright. And you need to program your robot with better grammar. It's "ensure". Why am I talking to a computer program? I'm giving more of a shit than the guy who wrote it did.

Flapper in Piano Tooners

[edit]

This article claims that the flapper character from Piano Tooners is "clearly derived from Fleischer's Betty Boop", but there is no source for this claim and I think it is rather unlikely. There is indeed a flapper-inspired dancer at the recital hall in this film and she has a roughly similar voice to Betty Boop, however this is where the similarities end. She shares almost none of the characteristics typical of Boop (muttering aloud, squeaking, etc.), she is a repeat character appearing in several less showgirl settings (e.g. as the damsel in distress in Hook and Ladder Hokum), and most tellingly she is blonde. Her voice might be a reference to Helen Kane's, but without sources this is just speculation. If sources exist, let's ref them. Otherwise we should remove this claim. -Thibbs (talk) 20:55, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The caricature style of her face makes me think she's a parody of some existing film star or singer, many cartoons have done the same over the years, and it happened a lot at the time. I can -almost- think which one. Mae West? She looks nothing like Betty Boop, and I'd really like to know who she's supposed to be.
