Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.
Immediate Failures
[edit]It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria
-It contains copyright infringements
-It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include{{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags. (See also {{QF-tags}}).
-It is not stable due to edit warring on the page.

[edit]Lede
[edit]- was an American Major League Baseball pitcher - wp:seaofblue. The pitcher bit would fit better in the next sentence about his pitch types. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- The ref in the lede could easily be encorporated into the body. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- DOB isn't in the body. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- record, pipes to a redirect. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- released on June 27. - was this 1964? 12:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
General
[edit]- Both parents worked: Elbert for an oil pipeline company as a telegraph operator, and Ethel at a fur repair shop as an assistant. - Elbert worked for an oil pipeline company as a telegraph operator while Ethel worked at a fur repair shop as an assistant. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Capitol Hill High School, - where? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- He pitched for Bill Mosier's Tires - he played as a pitcher for... Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- "What a boy if we can find a position for him," Greenwade said in 1949. "Great speed and a rifle arm. Used to be a high-school pitcher in Oklahoma City, you know. And one of the greatest. He set some kind of record. More than 100 innings without being scored on. When he wasn’t pitching he was playing short. He likes to play the infield. He might, with that arm and speed, make a real outfielder."[ - this is a very long quote - state what it is important Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- I think the quote is important. It discusses how highly regarded he was in high school, describes his playing style, and tells how the Yankees were thinking of using him. I think it should all stay in. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 14:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- The article doesn't seem to mention about him being signed as a professional player. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Read the sentence before the quote. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 14:14, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Class B Three-I League, batting - reword to avoid SEAOFBLUE. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Same with Class AA Texas League, Class AAA Kansas City Blues etc Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- His Major league should be all under one section as you do with his minor league career. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- For someone with two World Series titles, there is a lack of a championship/acomplishments section. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- I don't believe this is necessary. The fact that he won the two World Series titles is mentioned in the text. Other good articles on multiple-time world series winners (see Javier López (baseball), Juan Uribe, or Sergio Romo) don't have one. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 15:44, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Could you tighten up the personal life section? It is currently a lot of one-sentence paragraphs. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 12:29, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]- I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:40, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
