I'll review this. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:07, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Images are appropriately tagged. Earwig shows no issues; sources are reliable.
The lead says he began his career with Potters Bar Town, but the body of the article says he began at Boreham Wood. The difference is presumably because the latter is youth system only, but the wording shouldn't be the same in the two cases.- I've cleared that up.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
"He spent two and a half seasons at Grosvenor Vale": when the club is as obscure as Wealdstone I don't think we should be using the ground to stand for the club in a sentence like this, unless we've already introduced it. Similarly for the mention of Broadhall Way later on."Goals in home victories over Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient and local rivals Barnet played a part in Stevenage's upturn in form, briefly finding themselves in the play-off positions before eventually finishing in tenth position": needs rewording; as written it says the goals found themselves in the play-off positions."During his time, he undertook a study on mental health with Middlesex University": he was part of a study? or studied the subject?- He did the study. Done.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
I would suggest combining the short sections. Perhaps add "International career" to the "Club career" section, retitling it "Career"? And the "Style of play" snippet could be incorporated into the "Port Vale" section since it was said during the promotion play-offs.
Spotchecks:
- FN 34 cites "In January 2018, Pett informed Stevenage that he was going to be leaving the club when his contract expired later in June that year": verified.
FN 27 cites "Goals in home victories over...local rivals Barnet played a part in Stevenage's upturn in form, briefly finding themselves in the play-off positions before eventually finishing in tenth position": doesn't cover the "tenth position" part of this.FN 20 cites "During the 2015–16 campaign, he was a first-team regular under new manager Teddy Sheringham as Stevenage finished that season in 18th-place in League Two." As far as I can see the source doesn't mention Sheringham or Stevenage's final position.- I've added a source for Sherringham's time at the club, which will have to be cross referenced with the source showing Pett's appearances in that season.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
FN 48 cites "He scored his first goal since re-joining the club in a 2–1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers on 21 November 2020": doesn't say it was Pett's first since re-joining.FN 22 cites "Pett came on after half-time with Stevenage trailing in the match and assisted both goals in the comeback". The source says Pett only assisted with one goal.- Seems he was only credited with the second assist so I've adjusted it.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
This is quite a few inaccuracies in the citing, unless you can point me at things I missed in the sources. Can you fix these and check that the rest of the article is accurately sourced? I'll do some more spotchecking once I hear back from you. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 20:55, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, many thanks.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- I've checked all the above and will do another round of spotchecks. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 08:59, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, many thanks.--EchetusXe 21:36, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
More spotchecks:
- FN 33 cites "Pett went on to score seven times in 34 appearances during the first half of the campaign": verified.
- FN 19 cites "The club went on to play Southend United in the play-off semi-finals, with Pett scoring in the second leg; Stevenage ultimately lost 4–2 on aggregate over the two games": verified.
- FN 51 cites "Without a club at the start of the season, Pett rejoined League Two club Stevenage on 3 November 2020, on a contract until the end of the 2020–21 season." Verified.
- FN 61 cites "As of 2021, he was dating professional footballer Hannah Blundell": should be 2022?
- Typo corrected.--EchetusXe 12:11, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- FN 6 cites "He broke into the first-team and established himself as a regular in the starting line-up at Potters Bar during the 2009–10 season, captaining the club at the age of 17": the source covers only that he was at Potters Bar.
- Yeah I didn't write the early section, seems like the sourcing isn't 100% for that. I've corrected that captain claim.--EchetusXe 12:11, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- FN 5 cites "Pett was offered the chance to join up with Wealdstone midway through the 2011–12 season, who then played a division above Potters Bar, in the Isthmian League Premier Division. He accepted the offer and signed on a permanent deal on 25 January 2012." This doesn't cover the signing date which might or might not be 25 January -- the wording in the article doesn't make it sound like his move was sudden; in fact the article says Wealdstone contacted him a few weeks earlier.
- The wording in the bio doesn't sound like his move was sudden either. Additionally, what does it matter whether it was sudden or not?--EchetusXe 12:11, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
- FN 47 cites "He suffered back problems ahead of the 2019–20 season and was then ruled out of action for six weeks with a knee injury, suffering a medial ligament tear.": Does not cover "six weeks"; this talks about possibly ruling him out till September, which would have been almost four weeks.
- What? The first line of the article is "Lincoln City have suffered another injury blow after Tom Pett was ruled out for up to six weeks with a knee injury."--EchetusXe 12:11, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
I'm going to fail this because of these spotchecks. Please recheck the citations are accurate before renominating. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 09:20, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
