Was he really American?
[edit]Born in Ireland to two Irish parents. Served in the Irish Guards from 1915 to 1919.
Don't know when he was born, but his younger brother Liam was born in 1896, so I guess Tom was born somewhere in 1886-1895. Died in 1936, in Ireland.
It seems he went to America soon after 1919 and came back in 1934. So he spent, say 14 years in America. That's an Irishman in America, not an Irish-American.
If he got American nationality, then he could be called an Irishman who obtained American nationality. Anyone got a reference to say he got American nationality? Gronky (talk) 08:53, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
