Proposed deletion
[edit]I see that someone proposed Tom Lewis for deletion as being "not notable." I'm not sure it is kosher for me to remove the tag since I created the article, but I would argue that Mr. Lewis is notable. I cite you to the following in WP:MUSIC, all of which are true of Mr. Lewis, and any one of which would render him "notable":
- Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable). Borealis Recordings.
See also the qualifications for "performers outside of mass media traditions":
- Has composed a number of melodies, tunes or standards used in a notable genre, or tradition or school within a notable genre. The notable genre being "folk music"-- specifically "maritime folk music" and "Canadian folk music." Notable songs include those listed in the article. I should add that the "Midnight Special" radio show is a nationally-syndicated radio show dedicated to folk music, which has been broadcasting since the '50s.
- Is frequently covered in publications devoted to a notable sub-culture. Various folk music publications including Dirty Linen.

Improvement templates
[edit]This article had been tagged with templates since Sept. 2021 stating "This biography of a living person needs additional citations for verification" and "This article contains content that is written like an advertisement." I just completed a major revision to the article, including a rewrite to remove the ad-like language and both expanding the information in the article and adding a good number of reliable citations. I believe the article now meets Wikipedia standards so I've removed the templates. If anyone has concerns about this please let me know.--SouthernNights (talk) 16:10, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
