[edit]I think the heading needs to be Tom Kruse (Mailman) not (Bushman). How do I/we do this? Sterry2607 00:00, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Requested move 6 November 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is that the different variants should have their own dab pages as needed instead. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 13:55, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
Tom Kruse → Tom Cruise (disambiguation) – There are seven men listed upon the Tom Kruse disambiguation page, which was created in July 2006 and listed two men named "Tom Kruse". In the following 16 years, however, five men have been added — two surnamed "Cruise", two surnamed "Cruse" and one surnamed "Cruz". Since there are four spellings among the seven men, only two of whom use a "K", it may be intuitive to indicate the best known one among them as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. A Tom Cruise (disambiguation) page was created in March 2010, but was redirected to Tom Kruse in March 2014. If consensus skews towards moving this page's main title header — Tom Kruse → Thomas Cruise — thus avoiding the indication of a primary topic, I would also support such a compromise. — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 18:23, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I think the article should be split and cleaned up, Kruse/Cruz/Cruise variations are different and should be on different pages. They aren't equivalents to each other, they just coincidentally sound similar (not even the same) in other languages.--Ortizesp (talk) 00:43, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per above comment by User:Ortizesp. Kruse and Cruise (surname) are distinct names, and therefore it's incorrect to have this dabpage listing both. 162 etc. (talk) 05:19, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose distinct names. Criticalus (talk) 16:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose, split into multiple disambiguation pages and remove Com Truise who doesn't need disambiguation. BilledMammal (talk) 14:36, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- Comment. Since the nomination refers to "seven men listed upon the Tom Kruse disambiguation page," it should be noted that on November 7, the dab page has been reformatted, with the two men named "Tom Kruse" listed at the top, the two men surnamed "Cruise" as well as the two men surnamed "Cruse" moved under "See also" and the one man surnamed "Cruz" — Tommy Cruz — deleted. The sole name that had been previously listed under "See also" — Com Truise — is now one of the five names listed under "See also". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:05, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose People who know the name they are looking for shouldn't have to wade through similar spellings they are not looking for. Generally, see also's serve that purpose for those seeking different spellings. Create different disambiguation pages, as needed, where multiple variants exist. —Bagumba (talk) 11:31, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
