Why was this?!
"Meanwhile, the American show of force backfires when the Walsh is sunk by a North Korean anti-ship missile on July 4 (mirroring the real life July 4 2006 test launch of North Korean missiles), initiating a war between North Korea and South Korea/United States"
what the heck? this was a winter 2004 game, not a game made that could've predicted this. 21:15, 13 September 2007 (UTC)21:15, 13 September 2007 (UTC)~~
Merging character articles into main article
I think we should merge the character articles into the main Splinter Cell article, or (in the case of characters like Sadano or Nikoladze) at least into the articles for the individual games in which they appear.
These character articles are rather short, and it's unlikely there's going to be much that can be added to them (Many of these guys are dead, for starters). Joylock 18:00, 09 November 2005 (UTC)
- I agree. Merge the information. sigint
- There's a page for Metal Gear characters. I think we should aim for something like that. Most SC characters could probably all fit on to the same page. TotalTommyTerror 19:49, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hm. Good idea that- it's done for a lot of other franchises. If nobody beats me to it, I'll see about knocking one up this week. Lonemagpie 21:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Plausible Deniability
I'm scoping out some info here and this caught my eye.
"The game features Massive Streaming Ad Support, a form of Adware."
Is this some sort of ugly lie or is this true? I'll tell you this much, there's no adware running on my Xbox. So, if it is true this should be ammended to specify the system that it exists on. TotalTommyTerror 19:53, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- I deleted it since it couldn't be verified and I found nothing on google except for wikipedia's mention of it. - Rudykog 16:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
In SWAT 4 they put adware in a patch, it will only affect you while playing, they might be planning to add posters in new levels or in a patch.--212.85.13.142 08:27, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
Actually, it does exist in the PC version of Chaos Theory. There are some posters in the game where it advertises new movies or such. --Unicyclopedia
- I dont know where you're getting that from, since I'm still playing it almost daily and havent seen anything like that.
- I started playing this again, in cutscenes before the first mission and after the first mission. Before the first mission you can see Sam Fisher eating Airwaves gum in a helicopter, and after the first mission they zoom out from a radio and a pack of Airwaves gum in front of it. Pretty obvious. I will look out for more of this. ----Çiddlər 09:04, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- There was also an Airwaves blimp in a cutscene, and in 4th mission there is an AXE neon sign and there are AXE deodrant cans in a bathroom. ----Çiddlər 19:22, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
I never saw the AirWaves blimp... but I do remember a huge Ubisoft blimp during the power-outage cutscene.
Yeah, but that's got nothing to do with Adware, it's just an in-game ad.72.91.62.67 01:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- And it's a trend that has appeared in other games too. Maybe we should mention it. ----Çiddlər 10:44, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- There is indeed ad streaming in the game. It's the same software as in F.E.A.R. I recall a link to the company on Tycho's PA blog some time back. - NordsternMN 03:03, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree, the ads seem to change about every month or two. And how would thos do for an AXE slogan: "Evil geniuses everywhere use AXE!"
__________
Most of the advertisments in the game are for Ubisoft (understanderbly), as Ubisoft usually put this in their games. Eg, Ubisoft computer screensavers, etc.
However there are other adverts, noticably the airwaves (see above) and other brand names on vending machines and posters. This is the Gamecube version.

PS2 vs Xbox Online
I've heard that these games are drastically different when taken online with PS2 and Xbox. I don't know enough to add it to the article, but I'm fairly sure the PS2 version doesn't have many of the new adversarial features, but instead only 4 new maps and nearly all the original Pandora maps. if someone could confirm this it needs to be in the article. As it stands it's written from an Xbox Live only standpoint, when the fact of the matter is there are plenty of people who play it online with PS2 and the differences are worth noting.
Okay, I own the Xbox version and have played the PS2 version, and the Xbox version does have several of the Pandora Tomorrow maps along with downloadable new maps for vs and co-op. I haven't actually played the PS2 one on vs, though. Several of the single-player differences are relatively small. The hacking screen is different (Xbox shows the actual equipment, PS2 just shows the screen), PS2 has a small pool of water near the beginning which you can use to pull someone in, etc.--Averross 13:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
It should also be noted that in the PS2 version of the online vs. mode, the spies & mercs have different equipment.
Any good?
I am a future owner, and I am wondering if this game is any good. Is it?--AGE
- Yes, it is. But there are no multiplayer servers anymore. Try XBOX Live. -NordsternMN 02:59, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
It is VERY good, the best in the series so far.
There are still PS2 online servers
Needs list of gear
I just wanted to state that the article could use a list of gear in the game. Such as the types and uses of your goggles and the grenades. you could also put the weapon discriptions next to the actual weapons.-- NOT AGE
Done. Well, for multiplayer anyways.--Averross 13:28, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Wikiquotes?
I wanted to see if someone could put a wikiquotes thing for this game--MOO
What is SHADOWNET?
Does anybody know what this is? In the Bathhouse level, if you interrogate one of the technicians near the begining of the lever, he describes it as a some kind of wirless network independent from the internet but it's also the name of the NSA program for 2 SC's who work together.
Same name, different programs.147.144.1.251 22:10, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Don Jordan-Did anybody notice...
That in the article the hyperlink takes you to a boxer who died in 1997?--Edward Wakelin 00:43, 25 May 2006 (UTC) (Forgot to mention: I'd change it myself, but I honestly know nothing about Don Jordan the voice actor, and don't have the time today to look anything up).
Ya, same thing is in the 1st Splinter Cell game. --ASDFGHJKL 17:07, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
ARGUS PMC
Is there any explanation to why ARGUS constantly takes up the contracts of terrorists? Are they being fooled into the purpose of their jobs or are they fully aware of their employers? Is it also common for a PMC to take up the duties an ordinary security guard can cover? Maybe they got wise and went to Iraq during DA...147.144.1.251 22:14, 5 December 2006 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 147.144.1.251 (talk) 22:14, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
Maybe they have an exclusive contract with super villains.--Averross 13:29, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
You're not too far off. If you read the briefings for the ARGUS side during multiplayer, you'll find that they're extremely apathetic to their contracts, even when defending a missile about to fall on Japan. They sometimes know and they don't care.147.144.1.251 22:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Hugo Lacerda
I started playing this again and I noticed in the Plot section that there is no mention of Hugo Lacerda. He plays a role in the beginning and you kill him in one mission. I will add it when I am back home (at work now). ----Çiddlər 09:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Laser radar function?
Could someone confirm if the multiplayer Mercenary Laser gadget tracks the scanned spy on the mercenaries' radar? I've never seen this work on my end. 22:25, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes the laser does place a spy on your radar but it must be held on the spy for quite a few seconds. This is difficult because the spy will usually notice the laser pointing at him.70.231.254.106 03:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
OCP
Any similar devices in real life similar to this?
Do you mean like an electronics jammer in general or something that is attached to a gun?
I know electronics jammers work, but I don't know if it's like the OCP in the game, where you point it at one specific thing. I heard of cell phone jammers that blocks signals for cell phones within a certain radius (like if you're in a theater or class). Vicious203 (talk) 18:49, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Spoiler Warnings?
I have never played the game, but am considering purchasing, that's why i accessed it's wikipedia page. glancing over the plot summary, i think spoiler warnings should definitely be added, as the summary is very in-depth and gives away quite a lot —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.107.197.94 (talk • contribs) 23:15, June 24, 2007
- If you don't want know about the plot, don't read the plot section. That was the consensus of Wikipedia editors when they decided to phase out the spoiler tags. ColdFusion650 11:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Black Gold Day
I think we should mention the Black Gold Day listed in some of the e-mails and such. I think it's the reason for the formation of the I-SDF. Maybe? 24.255.157.153 03:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? ColdFusion650 11:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- There was a so-called "Black Gold Day" that involved a japanese stock matket crash. It was sort of a backplot, like the ISS backstory.24.255.157.153 19:30, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

- yes, it was in PC. It was those junk emails you sometimes find when infiltrating computers. It was in the early levels, maybe Displace. I'll try to get specifics.24.255.157.153 05:51, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Product placement
I'm not sure, but I remember there being some quite blatant product placement in this game, both for Ubisoft and other companies on the PS2 edition (Sam Fisher chewing Airwaves endures as an image). Can someone correct me or agree with me on this one? Thanks, Smiley200 20:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Definetly. I remember, in the 1st cutscene, Sam chewing AirWaves gum. And I use PC. Plus the in-game stuff (Evil geniuses everywhere use AXE!), surley. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.157.153 (talk • contribs) 05:51, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Akira Reference
It has been a while since I played the game (and for some reason, I think the newest update made so that Chaos Theory can't be played on an Xbox 360) but I distinctly remember the mission where you spy on the deal between the two Japanese men in the sauna I think?
When they tell each of their own bodyguards to kill the other one, the first guy yells "Kaneda!!!" to call him, and the second calls "Tetsuo!!!!" to call him, an obvious reference to the CONSTANT yelling of Kaneda and Tetsuo in the anime movie Akira. Sooo should that go in Trivia or what? Vicious203 (talk) 01:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- There is no trivia section, because... well... it's illegal. ColdFusion650 (talk) 13:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Image:SC3GCBox.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
