I will review this (hopefully) tomorrow. LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 23:48, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:42, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that should be all! Surprisingly interesting; I think this article is among my favourite Tolkien articles like Valar and the cosmology article. Anyways, I think you know the drill by now, LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 22:00, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aw, thank you!

LunaEatsTuna: all done to date. Chiswick Chap (talk) 22:43, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work as always! Very happy to pass this article for GA status per the changes implemented. Congrats! LunaEatsTuna (💬)— 23:20, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Prose

[edit]
  • "like Men, who in Tolkien's Christian framework" – wikilink Men to Men in Middle-earth (as well as its first mention in the body), and also:
    • Done.
  • Do you reckon the latter could be wikilinked to Christianity in Middle-earth?
    • Done.
  • "comparable with the Medieval great chain of being" – I do not think medieval should be capitalised here.
    • Done.
  • "down to mere Beasts" – uncapitalise Beasts.
    • Done.
  • Four mentions of wargs spell their names in lowercase whilst two spell it uppercase.
    • Fixed.
  • "he imagined that, beside the Valar" – Wikilink Valar and unlink its later mention.
    • Done.
  • I would add quotation marks to Children of Ilúvatar, if that does not look too out of place?
    • Done, though people may object.
  • Maybe wikilink Ilúvatar.
    • Done.
  • "he realised that the statement about Gwaihir and Landroval's descent from Thorondor" – sounds pretty confusing; could this be elaborated upon?
    • Rewritten.
  • "by his son Christopher" - wikilink to Christopher Tolkien.
    • Done.
  • I feel like the image caption for the orc in § Dilemma could be expanded slightly, or given a bit more context in a way. Like the captions for your other ME articles. Or maybe I am just rambling.
    • Done.
  • Add a citation to the quote box.
    • Done.
  • "Shippey notes that in The Two Towers" – recommend "He notes".
    • Done.
  • "1962 letter to a Mrs. Munsby that Orc-females" – is noting her name noteworthy?
    • Moved it into the ref.
  • In the table, the sentence starting "Orcs like Gorbag have a moral" ends with a full stop while none of the others in the same table do.
    • All complete sentences in the table now end with a full stop.
  • "Evans, Jonathan (2013b)" should be just 2013 as no other sources were published in the same year.
    • Done.

Refs

[edit]

Passes spotcheck on refs 3, 8, 15, 16 and 20.

    • Noted.
  • Does ref 16 need a more specific publication date? (The cited journals have only a year given)
    • Fixed.
  • Ref 20 is missing a publication date.
    • Added.

Other

[edit]

Section formatting, navs, other templates and cats good.

  • Add a short description.
    • Done.
