Candidate City logo w/ Olympic Rings
[edit]Since tokyo is now a candidate city, they are allowed to use the Olympic rings in their logo. Here is a link with a picture of how it looks now:

I just want to make sure that using this is okay in the logo section on the infobox of this page. --MusicGeek101 (talk) 14:39, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I believe this page should get temporary semi-protection. I have noticed multiple unconstructive edits from unregistered users in regard to issues that have already been mentioned in the article. This has seemed to increase as we move closer to the IOC vote on the 2020 Olympic host city. --MusicGeek101 (talk) 18:21, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Please correct the statement "Tokyo won the bid but the games were cancelled due to World War II."
It should state "Tokyo won the bid but the games were cancelled due to the Second Sino-Japanese War."

- Not done: per 1940 Winter Olympics. says Japan gave the games back to the IOC when the 2nd Sino-Japanese War started and another host was chosen, then the games were eventually canceled when WW2 started. Cannolis (talk) 15:22, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
1) The 1940 Winter Olympics are not the subject. 2) The 1940 Tokyo Olympics were cancelled due to the Second Sino-Japanese War (Official forfeiture on July 16, 1938.) 3) The 1940 Olympics (subsequently awarded to Helsinki) were cancelled due to World War II. Sources: The Complete Book of the Olympics by David Wallechinsky (and others.) 2012 Edition; page 17 "...when Japan invaded China and became involved in a major war, the games were reassigned to Helsinki. When Soviet troops invaded Finland, the Olympics were cancelled all together." http://www.olympicgameswinners.com/info?id=12# http://www.tsn.ca/olympics/feature/?fid=9373 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.107.160 (talk) 16:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- Not done: Sorry went to the wrong one. but still not done per 1940 Summer Olympics and the source you link here. The games were not canceled due to the Second Sino-Japanese War, Japan forfeited their host city status. The games were reassigned and canceled later after WW2 started.
