List of notable venues
[edit]- This list potentially could go on into the thousands (any venue where any small band plays), so let's keep it to venues with articles from now on. There are loads of these anyway, I'll populate it myself at some point. Jdcooper 17:50, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
I've written lots of articles about toilet venues in the UK but they've all been deleted by some moderator for not being "notable enough". :( —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.102.15.200 (talk) 08:48, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hopefully, they were deleted because they didn't meet the notability guidelines. A moderator (known here as a sysop or admin) is a volunteer, doing a job in order to improve Wikipedia. You can help by creating articles only on encyclopedic subjects.
- I can see no archived deletion discussions, so I guess they were speedily deleted. Perhaps a list of these should be maintained on this talk page, to help avoid recreating them. Andrewa (talk) 18:25, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Citations
[edit]The news story citation is now dead so I've removed it. I think this might be a suitable replacement but I can't work out how to format citations. :)
I have also added a 'citation required' to the claim that the 'Toilet Circuit' is actually named after The Forum in Tunbridge Wells as I can't readily find any supporting evidence online; other articles state that the venues are the size of toilets and/or performers have to change in the toilets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shockeroo (talk • contribs) 13:38, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Someone had added a source about the Forum since then, but the source doesn't mention it leading to the name being coined. Looking around online, there's mention of a 1970 Playboy article about a Lenny Bruce documentary using the term ("A depressing look at third-rate strip clubs in third-rate towns on the toilet circuit.") The Forum was opened in 1993. --Gapfall (talk) 12:09, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
