Talk:To the Stars (album)/GA1
GA Review
[edit]- "Corea would go on to produce another album inspired by and named after a work by Hubbard, The Ultimate Adventure." - The Ultimate Adventure is a work by Corea or Hubbard? Clarify.
- In the Professional reviews area of the infobox, don't use refs... just use external links. See some other album articles for examples.
- The Inspiration section heading is slightly misleading; it also covers production etc. etc...
- "where an interstellar ship which travels at near light speed slows down time experienced for its occupants" - I think you should change "travels" to "travelling"
- "The protagonist of the book scientist Alan Corday, the ship's captain Captain Jocelyn, and the ship's name Hound of Heaven are all titles of tracks on the album" - pretty hard to read, work on the commas etc.
- There's no more info about album artwork? The short section looks a bit awkward as is.
- ""Aside from the content in his message, and the fact that he's the founder of the Church of Scientology and Dianetics, the thing I loved about Hubbard was the aesthetics of his writing. There is a musical wavelength to what he does," said Corea to The San Diego Union-Tribune." - ref?
- PopMatters is a webzine so shouldn't have italics... check other sources too.
- No audio samples?
Refs look good, everything else seems fine. giggy (:O) 11:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Delink [[2003 in music|2003]] and the like. They are mostly useless, and I remember reading somewhere that MoS discourages it. indopug (talk) 13:03, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Responses
[edit]Thanks so much for doing the GA Review, I'll get on these above points soon and get back to you. Cirt (talk) 15:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Clarified this sentence. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Removed the refs in the infobox, though some don't have external links available so the refs are available when this is discussed later in paragraph format. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Broke out part of Inspiration section into Production section. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Changed "travels" to "travelling". Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Copyedited this sentence. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Merged small Album artwork section into Production section. Haven't yet found significant discussion of album artwork in secondary sources, will continue to look though. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Whoops, the ref was below for another sentence, added it for this one. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Removed italics for PopMatters. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- I will work on getting an audio sample up for the article, though in the interim I don't think this should be a GA dealbreaker. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- I delinked the [[2003 in music|2003]] and other instances of this in the article. Cirt (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Further
- The track listing section needs a few tweaks, compare with Adore (quotes, songwriting credits)
- There should external links and bullet points for the review ratings in the infobox, see Adore.
- Why not quote a reviewer in the lead, that sums up the album nicely (ie, positive, but not too much)
Going by your numerous FAs, I take it you're not a L. Ron Hubbard fan? :) indopug (talk) 23:18, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Okay gotta run out now for a bit but will get back to these and update this page afterwards. Cirt (talk) 23:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Further responses
- Tweaked track listing section after model Adore. Cirt (talk) 05:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Review ratings in infobox has bullet points, but the only available external link is for All Music Guide, external links are not available for the other reviews, which are cited later in the article and satisfy WP:V. Cirt (talk) 05:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Per suggestion from Indopug (talk · contribs), added selected quotes from 2 reviews to the WP:LEAD. Cirt (talk) 05:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- All looks good
Any other issues, indopug (fellow GA reviewer ;-)), or are we ready to pass? giggy (:O) 07:26, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Comment (butting in)
"The album received mostly positive reviews. Christopher Blagg of the Boston Herald commented: "Somewhere L. Ron Hubbard was smiling," and Mike Hobart of the Financial Times described the album as "a fine programme of jazz-fusion"." Why is it that there are reviews in the lead? --Efe (talk) 08:25, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Because in this very GA Review, above, Reviewer Indopug (talk · contribs) suggested that I add some quotes from reviews into the Lead, and in response I did. Cirt (talk) 08:38, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. You are giving weight to the two reviews. How about the others? For readers, and for me, those reviews are considered very important among other reviews because its in the lead. Why just summarize their review if they have a unanimous opinion about the album? --Efe (talk) 08:43, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Again, I did not have those quotes initially in the lead when I submitted this article for GA Review, I was directly responding to a recommendation by one of the GA Reviewers, Indopug (talk · contribs), so you would have to ask him about that. Personally I think it is a nice addition so that makes 2 of us. Cirt (talk) 08:45, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Indopug's comment asked for a review that "sums up" the mood towards the album. These ones do it well. I'm passing it now. giggy (:O) 08:53, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
