- ... that Tjarda Struik is the Netherlands' first female (nearly) blind mayor since 14 November 2023, as well as a TikTok influencer? Source: [1]
- Reviewed:
Created by W.G.J. (talk). Self-nominated at 11:57, 16 November 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Tjarda Struik; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
- New enough (nominated within one day of creation), long enough (1950 characters). Includes citations of reliable sources throughout; AGF on Dutch and paywalled sources. (Coverage appears to be very interview-driven; trusting that those articles contain enough objective independent secondary analysis and fact-checking, above and beyond direct quotes from the subject.) Earwig does not seem to pick up translation copyvio (sometimes it does if you have used Google Translate, etc., but again, AGF that this is not the case here). Verified existence of subject. Hook is interesting and verified and included within article, but I did tweak the connecting words above "while also being" -> "as well as". This user doesn't appear to have much DYK traffic in their Talk page, so it appears they are exempt from QPQ, so I will approve this for now. @W.G.J.: Could you please confirm whether or not this is one of the first five DYK nominations you have ever submitted? - @Cielquiparle: this is my second nomination. 𝕎.𝔾.𝕁. (chat | contribs) 10:49, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- @W.G.J. and Cielquiparle: I think the hook is not worded as good as it could be. It is also odd to pick out items in her life that force a "first". Like first female mayor with hearing loss, etc. Bruxton (talk) 20:35, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Bruxton: I get what you're saying, but there are several sources that touch upon it as such: [2] [3] [4]. Otherwise, it might be an option to mention that she is the Netherlands' second (nearly) blind mayor, since Ad Bestman was the first. 𝕎.𝔾.𝕁. ( t | c ) 12:31, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- @W.G.J.: also the date of November 16 does not appear in the article. According to sources she was sworn in November 14. Bruxton (talk) 14:44, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Bruxton: No, she was sworn in on 14 November: [5] [6] [7] [8]. 𝕎.𝔾.𝕁. ( t ∣ c ) 14:50, 7 December 2023 (UTC). Edit: I have changed the hook as such. 𝕎.𝔾.𝕁. ( t ∣ c ) 14:54, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- I would like to ask @Cielquiparle: to return and help with the hook. I think it is clumsy at the moment. Cielquiparle is a good hook writer. Bruxton (talk) 15:15, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

- No return of Cielquiparle so I will promote and if any changes are needed they can occur in prep. Bruxton (talk) 22:40, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
