add redirect?

[edit]

I don't really know how to make a redirect, or what the exact rules of them are.

However, since many articles refer to it as "Tissot's indicatrix of deformation" instead of "Tissot's indicatrix", wouldn't it be handy to have a redirect?

Making a basic redirect is easy: You just create an article whose only text is "#REDIRECT[[name of target article]]". We have a page Wikipedia:Redirect. AnonMoos (talk) 09:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the info. However, do think it is necessary/needed to have a redirct for this (i.e., should I make it)? Qwaabza (talk) 18:39, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, just checked, thank you for making it!(here) I might update this article to include the name in the opening paragraph... Qwaabza (talk) 18:12, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
“Tissot’s indicatrix of deformation” is not a name; it is a description. “Tissot’s indicatrix” is what appears in the literature. Strebe (talk) 23:08, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

More world maps for comparison?

[edit]

Is there any reason we don't want more "indicatricated" maps added to the comparison or gallery sections?

I think I would find it handy, personally--but it would hurt my feelings to have an edit reverted, so I don't want to add any if it's already been decided that there are enough images...

This is primarily an encyclopedia article, not an atlas, gallery, or other such resource. I would recommend maybe investigating this at Commons or Wikiversity? Remsense ‥  03:15, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
