Living person biography policies, COI

[edit]

Looking at the version history and the content of the article as it's currently written, I'm quite certain it was contributed by Tippi Degré herself. I was about to volunteer to help her with making any necessary changes to bring it in line with current Wikipedia guidelines, but researching the guidelines in question made me realise that my friendship with Tippi represents a conflict of interest, because I know her personally. Having said that, I'm still available to do any work necessary to clean up the page if someone else with more experience can show me what needs to be corrected or updated, and they can provide a neutral point of view. I can also speak to her directly about any information she needs to update.

You're right, this article is almost undoubtedly written by her and I have advised that user about the COI policy. Similarly I think because you know her, this places you in conflict, and asking her to direct the content even one step removed is not really in line with the ethos of objectivity and neutrality. Thanks for your efforts and concern but according to the policy at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, it is recommended to avoid this article completely. lucky

[edit]

This girl may be lucky, but she doesn't have a "special bond with nature". How exactly do you "befriend" a crocodile, or amphibian like the article claims? I watched the discovery special "Tippi of Africa" and I was frightened when I watched a small child standing next to wild boars, partially sedated juvenile lions and African mother elephants with children in tow. She didnt seem to be fluent in English either and thats what all the conservationists with her were speaking. A nightmare waiting to happen if you ask me. This kinda stuff is errily reminiscent of Steve Irwin, like when he carried his 1 month old son along to feed a 12 foot crocodile. Taunting and provoking a huge, deadly reptile for entertainment has never felt right.. then again im sure the publicity has always done a great deal for wildlife conservation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Douglas84 (talkcontribs) 10:31, 6 March 2009 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tysska (talkcontribs) [reply]
