It struck me while reading about Rin Tin Tin who was "named for a puppet called Rin tin tin that French children gave to the American soldiers [in World War ] for good luck", that Tintin may have had similar origins. The American owner of the dog obtained it while fighting in Lorraine which is next door to Belgium and Herge would have been a child at the same time. KenDenier (talk) 04:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Tintin's nationality
Regarding the line "Brussels is also explicitly mentioned as Tintin's home address in Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in Tibet (on the postcard from Tchang)."
I have checked both the original French and translated English versions of Tintin in Tibet and could not find a reference to Brussels, let alone an explicit one. It may be written in Mandarin on the left side of the envelope, but since I can't read that I cannot judge. I will edit the phrase for now. Please edit again and inform us here if you disagree. Flying a plane
The article mentions that Tintin pilots a Boeing 707 in the album Flight 714, as far as I can remember Tintin does not fly any plane in that story. LegalEagle (talk) 17:00, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
