Removed Statement
[edit]“ | Originally, Rib Mountain was thought to be the highest point in Wisconsin. However, this was later proved to be incorrect. While Timms Hill has the highest elevation in the state, Rib Mountain has the largest height differential from the surrounding landscape. | ” |
Prominence is not equivalent to elevation. Read topographic prominence. This statement is at least misleading. --DRoll (talk) 08:31, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Elevation
[edit]There are two National Geodetic Survey stations on the summit: OGEMA and OGEMA TOWER. OGEMA has an elevation of 1951.5 feet on a concrete post projecting 2 inches while OGEMA TOWER has an elevation of 1952 on a concrete post which projects 14. USGS states that the elevation is 1951 feet, probably NGVD 29. I have entered the elevation as 1951 feet. VERTCON reports a difference of less than an inch of at this location. --DRoll (talk) 09:25, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
