I'm new to wikipedia, but felt I had to correct the erroneous information that Edwin captured the Gododdin fort in 638. Edwin had been dead for 5 years by this date and Oswald was ruling Northumbria. It is thought that it was Oswald who took Edinburgh as part of his efforts to consolidate his Kingdom, therefore I have made the change. However, even this fact is dubious - I don't have my research notes to hand right now, but I believe the idea of Oswald destroying the Gododdin is a theory based on the interpretation of a single ambiguous line in an old chronicle. While I think it makes a good story and fits the known facts (the Gododdin vanish from history around the time Oswald gains power), it should be noted it is conjecture.
