Apparently there is a guideline WP:MCSTJR that states that anyone named "Mc___" should be sorted as "Mac___" -- Because it is guideline and not policy, I reverted a change here to reflect the true name and proper spelling of the subject.--Paul McDonald (talk) 01:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that the many thousands of other "Mc" names are sorted as "Mac", it makes absolutely no sense to have this one page sorted differently. See the WPBiography articles sorted by Mac and by Mc. While Wikipedia:Categorization of people is indeed a "guideline", one should have a very good reason if one is going to ignore that guideline. There is no valid reason for making an exception here. I've restored the correct sort key. MANdARAX•XAЯAbИAM07:36, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"Everybody else does it wrong everyplace else" is not a good reason also do something wrong here. Two wrongs don't make a right, neither do a million. I will be making the second revert now, which means we should likely go to the "three revert rule" procedure should it be done again.--Paul McDonald (talk) 13:03, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
