Tikorangi School
[edit]Why would children bus from Waitara (pop 6000+) to Tikorangi School? Tikorangi's population is not given here, but must number in the low hundreds. Has Waitara East School closed? And even if that were the case, wouldn't Waitara Central School be closer and have more facilities? Koro Neil (talk) 12:51, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that it's puzzling. The source does not say why. Is it possible that the Waitara schools are overstretched, or that the Tikorangi school offers facilities the other schools do not? Waitara East School still operates. Tikorangi is part of the Okoki-Okau census area, which had a 2006 population of 1920, but covers a much larger area than just this locality.-gadfium 06:34, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- The more recent ERO reports, from 2014 and 2017, do not mention bussing from Waitara, so I have removed this from the article.-gadfium 01:47, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
