Location

[edit]

The article currently says that Tigranakert was near Silvan. But a quick search seems to show that this is still controversial, and that other candidate sites are Arzan (Erzurum) and Kızıltepe. See Thomas A. Sinclair, "The site of Tigranocerta (I)" Revue des Études Arméniennes 25:183 (1994-95). Either way, the article could use some good scholarly sources instead of random Web sites. --Macrakis 23:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the abundance of Western scholarly sources concerning this ancient megapolis the article is in a sad state.-- Ευπάτωρ Talk!! 23:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect photo

[edit]

Remember that there were 4 cities called "Tigranakert." The picture on this page shows recent excavations in Artsakh, where archaeologists believe they found one of the four Tigranakerts. This picture is about a wrong Tigranakert. Verjakette 20:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the image. It is copyrighted and the uploader added a false license tag.-- Ευπάτωρ Talk!! 22:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion about what? There is no other article titled Tigranocerta. ♆ CUSH ♆
There are at least 3 other cities called Tigranakert. I'm not sure if those cities have ever been called Tigranocerta, but I think that's what he meant. --Երևանցի talk 20:51, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong move.

[edit]

Why was the page moved to Tigranakert (capital) and not to Tigranocerta as was proposed and agreed in the discussion, albeit by only a few people? I find this action by a single editor infuriating. ♆ CUSH ♆ 19:07, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What are you refering to? MarshallBagramyan moved page Tigranakert (Silvan) to Tigranakert (capital) on 2013-10-26 at 23:31:02‎
Which is the move he proposed. ♆ CUSH ♆ 18:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I only moved it to Tigranakert (capital) after I realized that scholarly opinion is still too divided to assign confidently the true locality of the ancient city's ruins (Silvan vs. Arzan). Now another user has come and made a better proposal (Tigranocerta). I accede to that move so I am as equally perplexed as to why you have gotten so up in arms.--Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 21:48, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You made the move while the discussion was still on-going and no consensus was reached. You have disregarded the original move request and pushed through your proposal. I am sure if I had done this, I would have received a 1-day ban. ♆ CUSH ♆ 18:17, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
MarshallBagramyan moved the page on October 26. Look above. My request is dated October 27. --Երևանցի talk 18:23, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
