Defense Against Deletion

NOTE: This is the fourth time Tiffany Vollmer has had an entry in Wikipedia. The previous three entries (which I did not contribute) were all deleted. The very day I created this entry, somebody proded a delete tag onto it. The following was the argument I wrote in favor of keeping it. I urge anyone inclined to give this entry an AfD, or if it's been given an Afd, anyone inclined to post a Delete comment on the Afd page, to please read the following argument in its entirety before making your decision. I have several arguments for why Tiffany Vollmer is a notable person whose article should not be deleted. They can be divided into three parts:

1)I'm assuming the main reason you might decide Vollmer is non-notable is because she's only known for voicing one charcter in one series of cartoon shows. That's kind of like saying Yeardley Smith isn't notable because she only voices one character on The Simpsons. Now I'm not saying Vollmer is as notable as Yeardley Smith but the situation for both voice actreesses is similar. They both voice "only" one character in "only" one series, but in both cases its a regular character, arguably a popular one, in definitly popular, undeniably long-running shows. The original Dragon Ball anime ran for 153 half hour episodes. Vollmer's character Bulma is in most of them. Dragon Ball Z ran for 291 half hour episodes. Vollmer's character Bulma is in most of them, too. That's a grand total of 444 episodes and Bulma's in most of them. I don't have percise figures from a verifiable source on how many of these episodes Bulma was in (if I did, I'd use them in a heartbeat), but I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if Bulma was in over 400 of them. Even if she wasn't, I suspect that the (fewer) episodes of Dragon Ball GT and the 7 DBZ movies (the equivelant of 14 half hour episodes) Bulma was also in would make it over 400 half hours, or 200 hours worth of voice work for this one character voiced by this "non-notable" person.

2)Some of the phrases I used in this article I swiped from the entry for Vollmer's fellow FUNimation VA Linda Chambers-Young. It describes "while her body of work is small compared to most English VAs" it then goes on to say "the number of episodes the characters Young voices in is extensive." I swiped these phrases because I thought they were so wonderfully applicable to Vollmer's position. Now I'd like to compare Vollmer's work with Linda Chambers-Young. Young is best known for 2 characters she voiced, Frieza in Dragon Ball Z and Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho. Frieza is the main villain in a 70+ episode long saga where Frieza was in most of the episodes. Frieza then turns up briefly in another saga where the character is killed off and is seen occasionally from then on as a dead soul in Hell. Now if you combine the number of episodes Frieza is in with the episodes of the only other recurring character Young voiced on DBZ, the infrequently seen Fortuneteller Baba, you'd get a combined total of roughly 100 episodes. Genkai is a regular on Yu Yu Hakusho a series that lasted roughly over 110 episodes. Genkai is a regular, but she isn't on the show right from the start, is not in every episode once she's seen, and her character is more supporting than main. Still, let's be generous and say that Genkai is in roughly 100 episodes. That means the 2-3 characters Young is best known for combined adds up to roughly 200 episodes, or roughly only half the amount of voice work Vollmer accomplished with just one character. Ths is not an argument to delete Young's page. Rather, it's more of an argument that if Young's page is allowed on Wikipedia (as I definitly think it should be) then so should Vollmer's.

3)If you go to the DBZ page you'll find a cast list naming almost every single Japanese and English VA who worked on DBZ. The overwhelming majority of VAs on that list, including the overwhelming majority of VAs from the FUNimation dub all have their own individual Wikipedia entries. Now maybe you think that voicing the American dub of a Japanese anime series isn't notable, but I say that as long as a majority of FUNimation's voice cast has their own entries, then Tiffany Vollmer should be a part of that majority. True she voiced "only" one character, but that character alone would've made her one of the busiest VAs working on FUNimation's dub of the Dragon Ball franchise.
