- Late response (sorry), but I'm not sure being someone's "protege" (to put it very nicely) ought to be sufficient to propel someone to a position of notability, but I don't dispute your point. Sometimes letting someone put themselves out there and become famous and start talking is sufficient to help others make up their minds about that person's intelligence, ability and capability.
