The origins of the Thurzo family are patently not in Lower Austria; one needs only to look at the cited (anod not flawless) genealogical tree to deduce that the roots of the family are in Szepes, Upper Hungary, now Slovakia. All sources I have come across (and they are plentiful) state that the Thurzo are medieval conditional nobility (Szepes spearmen) from Upper Hungary. As such, I will change this accordingly if there is no dispute from others.
I will also try to add other important things - such a the Palatine and other offices of the Thurzos, as well as the issue of estate acquisition - which was more complicated than the simple sounding 'purchases from earnings'.

There are lots of source about their Austrian origin. However I would gladly see other theories in the article about their ancestry. Fakirbakir (talk) 08:53, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
