The height of the falls

[edit]

There is a significant discrepancy between sources in relation to the height of the falls. The NZ Topomap has an annotation 96 m [1]. This figure of 96 m is reported as the height in several websites: [2], [3], [4], [5]. However, Department of Conservation reports 28 metres [6], and it is also reported as 28 metres here: [7]. I will attempt to get this clarified, and then try to notify the sites where the reported height is incorrect.-- Marshelec (talk) 09:45, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"The falls ... drop nearly 30 m", according to Pope, Diana and Jeremy (1981). Mobil New Zealand Travel Guide: South Island and Stewart Island (3rd revised ed.). p. 144. ISBN 0-589-00998-2. Paora (talk) 10:54, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I provided feedback to LINZ on the NZ topomap site about the annotation of the height of the falls and received this response: "The waterfall has been shown at that height since 1989. It has now been corrected and the change will reflect in the next edition of the map." I will endeavour to check periodically, and when the map is updated, I will provide feedback to the publications that have most likely relied upon height of 96 m shown in the topomap annotation.--Marshelec (talk) 07:35, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
