Assessment

[edit]

This article on "Three in the Attic" was extremely well done and very easy to read. The article had some important strengths that made it easy for me as the audience to quickly learn about a topic that I had previously never heard about. There were only a couple of things that need to be improved upon to make this article even better than it already it is. The author gives a detailed plot summary of the movie which is extremely helpful and makes it feel as if it was an extended preview. The tone of this article is effective and no bias is shown because the article solely informs the audience about what happened in the movie and then describes where the film's setting was located. The information in the box on the right of the page is quick and to the point and informs the audience of the important people involved in the production in an efficient manner. The plot summary is accurate and has authority because the only referenced listed is the Internet Movie Database which is a reputable place to go to find out information on various films. Some additional resources could have been used such as a Movie Review from Answers.com or a site like it. Also, I found an article on Indyweek.com that discusses a viewing of the movie as well. The information there would allow the author to tell the audience what genre of movie this is. Another key improvement would be to find a picture from the set or film cover from the film and put it on the site. Additionally, a picture of the fraternity house or of Polk Place would be a nice expansion to the article by giving presenting visual aids. As someone who goes to school at UNC, it is easy to know what these places look like, but to others a visual representation of where the film was shot would be extremely helpful. This article was extremely well done and I can't wait to see the final product. Bakershields15 (talk) 14:13, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment 2

[edit]

"While at a movie which Paxton is watching with Tobey, he is almost discovered by both Eulice and Jan, who spot him from the front; he barley escapes detection." - 'Barley' should be 'barely'.

This is a very good descriptive article of the movie. I feel completely competent to talk about the movie to another person. There are all kinds of great information as well, but perhaps you could add some pictures from the film or movie posters. I think though that you could expand the 'Film Location' part of your article. You describe the places where the movie is filmed, but you could show them. You could do some research in Wilson Library, looking for old records or through old Daily Tar Heels. I'm sure that if a movie was filmed here on campus, using UNC fraternity houses and dorms that there would definitely be information or advertisements. You could maybe find a film studies professor here at UNC and see if they could provide you with more information. I think you do need to expand your resources and use more than just Internet Movie Database. The article overall looks great, and you've linked many of the key words. Good luck!
