Justification
[edit]3DVT is a suggested addition to the general discussion of virtual tours and tourism. Perhaps it should be merged into virtual tours, as a line application. However, a popular view of a "virtual tour" comes from experiences with hotel registration and on-line real estate advertisements. Interactive mapping technologies now bring the the possbility of adding actual 3D models into this mix, without deleting the former. Obviously, university research has already explored this usage as well, but not too much has appeared in the public domain. This listing is a first attempt to nail down some definitions before a popular wave of 3DVT applications from the likes of Google Earth begin to appear en masse. Further suggestions are welcome. Virtual tourism for user-created maps?
[edit]So could the scope of this article be expanded to tours of user-created maps for (multiplayer) games (with map editors) like Far Cry 2?
I used to join up games to tour such maps with the creator of the map as a guide instead of the usual deathmatch...there are some really great works out there which are getting no recognition whatsoever beyond the "just some map to play in"-thinking.
And if not do you know if there's an article for that? And if there isn't would you help with creating it?
