Would we still need three-body forces if going down to quarks?

Three-body forces are currently needed to model e.g. deuteron-proton scattering if thinking about it as 3 nucleons - neglecting quark structure.

Are there any hints if they would be still needed if considering quarks instead?

What happens with proton and neutron quark structure when they bind into deuteron? We know it has large electric quadrupole moment - couldn't it come from shifting of śome quarks? (maybe resulting in 3-body corrections?) Jarek Duda (talk) 06:56, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
